Tips and Tricks

Move, Or Delete Several Fonts At Once
If you are moving your fonts to another folder, and you want to move several fonts at once, just treat them as you would any other files in Windows Explorer. Simply press and hold the CTRL key down and click each font you want to move, then right-click and drag any one of the selected (highlighted) fonts, and drop it in the designated folder. Choose 'MOVE' when the menu drops down.

If you want to delete them, then just right-click and choose 'DELETE' instead of dragging them.

Comparing Fonts
When deciding which fonts to keep, and which to move or delete, you may wish to see what the typeface looks like or to compare one to the other. This is easily done!

From the Control Panel, double-click 'Fonts'. To view a specific font, just double-click it.

If you would like to compare fonts, click 'View' on the Menu Bar, and choose 'List Fonts By Similarity'. You will see the text box 'List fonts by similarity to:'. Just click the down arrow at the right of the box and choose a font. The fonts in the lower pane will then be listed in order of similarity to the font selected. Open them and see just how much alike they really are. You don't need a bunch of fonts that all look the same.

Increase Performance - Reduce Your Colors
It takes time for your computer to process the colors you want to display. The more colors you choose to display the longer it will take. 16 colors would be the quickest, but with todays graphics it just doesn't do the trick.

Many people think they should increase the number of colors displayed on their computer to True Color(32 bit), because they want the most graphic experience possible as they surf the web. Well, you should be aware that the human eye can't even see that many colors. Secondly, in order to increase transfer rates and reduce download times, most web page graphics don't use more than 256 colors. Of course, many other application programs (and games) may tend to suffer with only 256 colors. So if your video card supports it, use High Color (16 bit).

Right-click anywhere on the desktop and choose Properties. Select the 'Settings' tab to change the color mode.
